Heel spur

A heel spur develops as an abnormal growth of the heel bone. Calcium deposits form when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel area, causing a bony protrusion, or heel spur to develop. Heel spurs can cause extreme pain in the rear of the foot, especially while standing or walking.

The stretching of the plantar fascia is usually the result of flat feet, but people with unusually high arches can also develop heel spurs. Women have a significantly higher incidence of heel spurs due to the types of footwear often worn on a regular basis.

Treatment: Heel Spur is a secondary foot problem. As the built in modules in the patients Pedikom restorative orthotics push the bones, joints, ligaments and muscles back into the correct alignment, and reverse the patients base foot problem, the heel spur symptoms will eventually go away.
